How REVIVAL works

WHY THIS E-BOOK?

My objective in creating REVIVAL was to help people find the most effective, easy-to-apply practices to resolve their suffering; amidst all the noise out there in the wellbeing space.  There are so many different practitioners, techniques or supplements you could try to help with your situation.

Many of these are very “woo-woo” and out there. You will also find some good therapists and courses out there that deal with the psychology of burnout and setting boundaries. Many of us also think that our own situation is very unique and complex and that once the conditions in our work and personal life change, we will then feel much better. However, to resolve your suffering, you need to refocus your chronically overactive mind and clear the accumulated stress, tension and/or trauma from your nervous system.

REVIVAL focuses on how to resolve the neurophysiological impacts of burnout and other chronic stress-based or emotional suppression conditions. If you can release the underlying tension and suppressed emotion related to your situation, you will have a lot more energy and free attention to then set better boundaries or feel more engaged in your life.  

HOW IS REVIVAL UNIQUE?

This REVIVAL solution is unique in that it works to resolve the underlying neurophysiological impacts of stress, tension and suppressed emotion in your body, and quieten your mind. It does this by working on the following two key principles:

1.The work of Dr John Sarno M.D. (author of “Healing Back Pain”) on how the subconscious acts to suppress a negative feeling or emotion from your conscious mind and the havoc that then creates over time; and

2.Interoception – a developing area of neuroscience to do with our ability to perceive our internal bodily states and make conscious improvements to overcome the first principle above.

How REVIVAL Works

The single organizing idea behind REVIVAL is that your body and subconscious naturally acts to protect you from consciously experiencing strong emotions and negative feelings. In attempting to protect you, this mechanism ends up causing a whole raft of physical and mental health issues over time.

The flipside of this single organizing idea is to consciously embrace your underlying feelings and emotions with these unique practices. By embracing rather than suppressing these feelings, you will create major shifts in how you feel each day. The Three Practices in REVIVAL work on this idea in different ways at a neurophysiological level; all based on the neuroscience of interoception. After just a week or two of getting used to them, the Three Practices will help bring you out of your mental-based, thinking headspace (aka the “mind grind”) and into your feeling-based, presence awareness (your natural state) like nothing you’ve ever experience before. 

Why 21 days and what to expect during that time?

It takes three weeks for you to gain the cumulative physical and mental benefits of the Three Practices. 21 days is also the minimum time to instill new habits of this kind. In terms of what to expect:

  • Week one: You will spend the first week adjusting to performing the practices properly. You will also start to see shifts in this time and may notice all kinds of symptoms coming up or even some emotional releases. Some symptoms may feel worse in the first few days. This is a great sign that the process is working. 
  • Week two: you may start to notice more neuro-physiological changes take place, as you become more proficient at each of the Three Practices.
  • Week three: you should feel much better than you have been feeling previously (potentially ever), with a greater sense of vitality, presence and resilience. From there, it’s up to you whether you want to continue the practices on a regular, consistent basis or just tap into them when needed.

How REVIVAL Works

1. Revitalize Cyclic Breathing

  • 3+ rounds of a specially formulated breathing technique to clear negative feelings, as well as increase your sense of vitality, resilience and presence
  • Perform in the morning before breakfast on an empty stomach

2. Fascial Release Maneouvres

  • A 15 minute stress and nervous system reset that releases chronic tension and trauma from your connective tissue (aka your fascia)
  • Perform this in the morning and/or at night (once or twice per day at any time)

3. Ones & Zeroes - the Presence Meditation

  • A simple, powerful meditation to enhance your focus and sense of presence awareness
  • Perform at night before sleep for at least 13 minutes and whenever else you need to during the day/week
